The pairing of state parks and music might seem unlikely at first blush, but our parks have always played a role in preserving our state’s past for generations to come. Arkansas’s music heritage is as diverse as our landscape, with significant contributions to the foundation of blues, gospel, folk, rock ‘n roll, bluegrass, country, rockabilly and more. Sustaining our musical roots and illuminating its convergence with traditional music is a primary focus for Ozark Folk Center and Ozark Highlands Radio. This is demonstrated with the absence of electric and amplified instruments at our live music events.
