Lost Ladybug Project

Meeting Place: Open Field by Playground
Join the park interpreter for an afternoon of an age-old activity, catching bugs and observing them in their natural habitat. North America’s ladybugs are tiny powerhouses that play a significant role in protecting our food supply and well-being, but their populations are rapidly declining. This phenomenon includes the population at Lake Chicot State Park, where dense insect populations require all the insect predators it can obtain. Participants will capture the ladybugs while hiking through the park and assist in documenting those collected for a national citizen science project. Through participation, you’ll develop a richer appreciation for our native ecosystem and forge a more authentic bond, setting the stage for truly unforgettable experiences at Lake Chicot State Park.

Lake Chicot State Park connects you to Arkansas’ largest natural lake with its calm waters, scenic cypress trees, abundant wildlife, and rich delta heritage. This event is free to attend. Wear full-length pants, sturdy shoes; bring insect repellent and drinking water.
